WAYS TO ELEVATE THE CLASSIC BRAAIBROODJIE



The secret to preparing the perfect braaibroodjie? It's all in the spice. Whether you're in the mood for a gourmet toastie or a simple braaied sarmie, it's easy to level up your favourite fireside snack with our expertly blended Cape Herb & Spice Seasonings.
- WHAT YOU WILL NEED -
- 1 big “Plaasbrood” loaf
- Butter
- 400g Gouda cheese (grated)
- 4 tomatoes (4 slices per braaibroodjie)
- 1 Red onion (Sliced into rings)
- Cape Herb & Spice SMOKY BBQ BRAAI
- Cape Herb & Spice TALL SWEET & SMOKY BBQ GRINDER
- Cape Herb & Spice TALL SEASONED SALT
- METHOD -
Assemble the braaibroodjies by buttering one side of each slice of bread (the buttered side will be facing outward). Distribute the tomato and onion evenly.
Add your favourite choice of Cape Herb & Spice Sweet & Smokey BBQ, Smoky BBQ and Seasoned Salt over each.
Top each braaibroodjie generously with the grated gouda cheese. Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered sides facing up.
Pack the Braaibroodjies on the grid, especially a hinged grid, try not to compress the braaibroodjies on the grid. Slightly opening and closing your hinged grid a few times after the first few turns of the braai process helps the braaibroodjies not to get stuck to the grid.
Prepare a medium heat fire and turn often.
Once the outsides are golden brown and the cheese are melted, remove from the grid, and slice the braaibroodjies in half. It is best to serve immediately.
